Five of us met at Tril's house for a Diablo II: Lord of Destruction release LAN party starting the evening of June 29, 2001, the official release date of the game. We had bought copies the day before from Electronics Boutique. Lower left is Tril, lower center is TOOGAM, lower right is Papakapp, behind him is Rincewind and in the back is Infinity. We started with all level 1 characters, and beat the game in two sittings of 9 hours each (with short breaks), one from 9pm-6am, and then we slept until Rincewind woke us up, played again from noon until we beat Baal at 9pm. We all ended up with characters level 36, plus or minus a level. It was a very fun experience for all involved, and deemed a success, unlike the previous LAN party which failed due to Tril's computer breaking down and lack of coordination of what game to play. Oh, yeah, one more thing: Battle.net seems to only allow a maximum of 4 simultaneous connections from the same IP address, in the same game ;) If you are planning to have 5 or more people at a LAN party in one game on the Diablo2 Realm, you better get an extra IP for the occasion. We had to have one person use dial-up to be able to join our game! |
